Closing Argument JPCA
This event serves as a platform for high school students to develop and showcase their persuasive communication skills within the context of a legal setting. By participating in this event, students strengthen their ability to craft compelling arguments, engage audiences, and advocate for their chosen positions—a set of skills that are not only vital for potential careers in law but also for effective communication in various academic and professional endeavors.
Objectives
Review the criminal case prior to competition. Prepare a closing argument as either the Prosecuting Attorney or the Defense Attorney. Make notes on a single 3"x 5" notecard. Both front and back may be utilized. Nothing else can be brought into the competition.
